Songs of Your Decay
Reflections:
Laird and Aubrey find connection and solace through music. What channels of connection do you have with those in your life? Do you connect through different means with different groups of people? How do you control or influence your emotions through music?
Practice: Breath of Joy
The Breath of Joy ignites energy, allowing prana to move freeely throughout the body. Take a minute to notice your surroundings. Then practice the breath of joy for 9-12 breaths and notice what changes, how alive you are in this present moment.
Activity: Memories Playlist
Music plays a large role in this chapter, providing solace and a common language for Aubrey and Laird. Think of a time in your life-- a person, a trip, a stage of life-- and make a playlist of songs to encapsulate that time. Invitation to share it with someone who went through that time with you.
Fact vs Fiction:
FACT: Body farms do exist largely as described in this chapter. They are forensic research facilities that study how bodies decompose in different capacities in order to gain insights into the decomposition process and assist with crimes.
